The Lifestyle

Its population has seen a gradual shift from established families and retirees towards a younger demographic bringing with it a lovely community-oriented feel. There are plenty of parks and sporting facilities for residents to enjoy.

Home to the long-established Deagon Racecourse, the facilities are still used to train thoroughbreds and the sight of fine looking race horses being walked along the Deagon roadside is not uncommon.

The Deagon Flea Markets are nestled under the trees of the Sandgate High School every Sunday morning where you’ll find heaps of stalls with bric-a-brac, fresh fruit and vegetables, massages, great food, plants, new and used goods etc.

The adjoining bayside suburbs of Sandgate and Shorncliffe host some celebrated annual events including Music by the Sea, The Einbunpin Festival and the Bluewater Festival, which celebrates the start of the iconic Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race every Easter.
