It is located approximately 20 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD and has a relatively short 25-30 minute commute by train into the city.

Residents are well catered for with Sacred Heart and Sandgate State Primary schools. There are a number of other primary and secondary schools in the surrounding suburbs including St Patricks College for boys and Shorncliffe Primary School in Shorncliffe and St John Fisher College for girls and the North Point Institute of TAFE in Bracken Ridge.

There are plenty of dining options in and around Sandgate, so if you are looking for a café, pub or restaurant, you’ll find it here. Sandgate is a perfect location for anyone who likes being outdoors or keeping fit. It boasts numerous parks, excellent walking tracks and bikeways, a swimming pool on Flinders Parade and a number of fun children’s parks and play areas along the foreshore. For lovers of golf, there is the Sandgate Golf Club, the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club and Sandgate Yacht Club.

Sandgate and the surrounding suburbs host some popular annual events including Music by the Sea, The Einbunpin Festival and the Bluewater Festival, which celebrates the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race every Easter.

The Sandgate Village is the hub of the entire area and offers a variety of schools; Sandgate State Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School, both offering something different for each child.
Currently there are no secondary schools within the suburb of Sandgate, however, there are a good number of quality state and private high schools, Further Education and Universities all within a short distance.

Sandgate offers a variety of interesting shopping experiences with each creating a niche market. Popular for drinking coffee at numerous coffee establishments, eateries, each creating a special menu, alley style bars that offer local music and pop up wagons, numerous retail therapy from gift shops, clothes, shoes and so much more!
Servicing the community also includes the Full Moon Hotel, the Chandelier Hotel, Woolworths, travel agencies, numerous real estate agencies, hairdressers, beauty, jewellers and a variety of other exciting stores all offering something special. With once a month Sandgate Village Markets and other pop up events it’s no wonder that Sandgate is the destination to be seen at.
